Michigan Requirement Details for Real Estate Continuing Education
The CE Shop is an approved real estate CE School in Michigan; license number M289
Continuing Education and License Renewal Date: 10/31 every three years
Hours Required By The State: 18 hours
- 6 legal update hours (2 hours required each year)
- 12 elective hours
Note: 2 hours of legal education courses involving statutes, rules, and court cases are required in each year of a license cycle.
• Renewed your license in 2018 – or –
• Were issued a new license between 7/1/2018 – 10/31/2019 – or –
• Were relicensed between 7/1/2018 – 10/31/2019
Then you need: • 6 hours (2 hours each year) of CE that involves law, rules & court cases regarding real estate. • 12 hours of other CE • For a total of 18 hours of CE prior to renewing your license in 2021.
• Were issued a new license between 11/1/2019 – 10/31/2020 – or –
• Were relicensed between 11/1/2019 – 10/31/2020
Then you need: • 4 hours (2 hours each year) of CE that involves law, rules & court cases regarding real estate. • 8 hours of other CE • For a total of 12 hours of CE prior to renewing your license in 2021.
• Were issued a new license between 11/1/2020 – 7/3/2021 – or –
• Were relicensed between 11/1/2020 – 7/3/2021
Then you need: • 2 hours of CE that involves law, rules & court cases regarding real estate. • 4 hours of other CE • For a total of 6 hours of CE prior to renewing your license in 2021.
Starting November 1, 2018, CE hours will be counted for each license cycle year. A license cycle year is defined as the period of November 1 through October 31. While licensees will be required to complete 2 hours of eligible legal continuing education within each license cycle year, all other required credits may be completed at any time during the license cycle.
The CE Shop's Offering: 18 hours
Seat Time: The Michigan Department of Licensing and Regulatory Affairs (LARA) requires that all students spend a minimum amount of seat time engaged in the course content. Our online course delivery system manages this requirement for you.
Reporting: The CE Shop reports CE hours to The CE Marketplace. You can acces your course records with The CE Marketplace here.
Expiration Date of Course: Course expiration dates vary by course but are generally one year after order date. Each course has an individual expiration date which is listed in your account.
Final Exams: Final exams must be passed with at least a 75% and may be taken as many times as necessary in order to pass.
Certificates: Upon completion of the course, The CE Shop will provide students with an electronic Certificate of Completion. Certificates will remain in your account for a minimum of five years, should you need additional copies. Please refer to your license renewal application to determine if you need to submit your Certificate of Completion with your license renewal request. Course completion dates are recorded using Central Standard Time. Please note that the date of your Certificate of Completion will reflect this.
